LINDSAY ST. ANTOINE : PROCESSion

From a romantic perspective, this exhibition is a representation of the most emotional and significant relationship of my adult life and its impact on my individual growth. It’s about process, moving forward, opening up, making space for new creation, being excited, inspiration, anticipation, lightness, and gentler times. It’s about illumination and knowing that the process of artistic intent is the catalyst that creates the light at the end of the tunnel.

From a more practical place, this work is about the progression of creating a body of work for exhibition. For me, making art with the intention of sharing it with others is challenging, tiring, frustrating, doubt-inducing, and I don’t like it much. Part of my growth is hating the process. I want it, I want to do it, and simultaneously I dislike it. This juxtaposition can be challenging, yet ultimately the provocation ends up being deeply satisfying as it successfully creates and moves toward the light at the end of the tunnel. So, it’s a love/hate relationship. And I suppose that’s pretty romantic, too.
